Apply for the 2023 Black Girls Glow sound artist residency. The BGG Sound residency is a program that fosters collaboration and creates spacefor women artists to network, learn and create together. The residency program is open to sound artists of all genres and expertise. Singers, Poets, Rappers, Producers, Beat makers and any other sound artists manipulating and or congregating sounds are encouraged to apply.
The deadline to apply is 3rd May 2023, West African Time.
Residency dates are 15th July to 23rd July outside of Accra, and the week after in Accra dedicated to rehearsals and engagement, with a showcase event slated for the 29th of July.
The theme for this year’s residency is Eco-consciousness. Climate change is drastically changing what our seasons and world looks like. Lifestyles, environmental racism and climate injustices are causing displacement, lack of access to clean water, pollution, food injustices among many others. How do we use sound to envision a life where all aspects of the universe are treated with care? How do we use music and sound to catapult concerns about the environment to the mainstream and to directly appeal to individuals, communities and governments to take action on climate injustice?
This residency is open to women and non-binary artists residing in Ghana.
It is a 9-day residency, free for participants.
