KSR is a program by Black Girls Glow that fosters collaboration and creates space for women artists to network, learn and create together. The residency program is open to sound artists of all genres and expertise. Singers, Poets, Rappers, Producers, Beat makers and any other sound artists manipulating and or congregating sounds are encouraged to apply.

The deadline to apply is 7^th February 2025, GMT.

Residency dates are 30^th March to 6^th April 2025

The inaugural Kumasi residency theme is Homegrown. Kumasi’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant history form the backbone of its identity, yet the city’s music performance culture remains underexplored. As we expand the residency to a new city we ask:

How do we use sound to celebrate Kumasi’s traditions, stories, and way of life? How can music amplify local talent and culture, weaving it into the larger tapestry of global soundscapes while staying rooted in its locality?

This year, we invite artists to explore the essence of “homegrown” — to honor the rhythms, narratives, and creativity of Kumasi, and to reflect on how sound can be a tool for preserving, celebrating, and evolving local culture.

This residency is open to women and non-binary artists residing in and around Kumasi. It is an 8-day residency, free for participants. DO NOT apply if you cannot attend all days.
